A Premier Private Club Founded in 1899
Established in 1897, The Country Club of Mobile traces its roots back to the cusp of the 20th century, receiving formal incorporation on March 1, 1899. Initially situated along the Old Bay Shell Road, adjacent to Mobile Bay and north of the Brookley Coast Guard Base, its humble beginnings featured a modest clubhouse where members convened prior to enjoying a round of golf.
In 1914, the club relocated to its current Spring Hill location, undertaking ambitious plans to erect a clubhouse befitting its stature. The resulting structure, unveiled on March 3, 1917, stood as a testament to Southern charm, harmonizing with the surrounding landscape of rolling hills and majestic live oaks. Regrettably, tragedy struck on December 29, 1925, when fire ravaged the main clubhouse, resulting in devastating loss of life and property.
Undeterred, the club swiftly embarked on rebuilding efforts, culminating in the completion of the present clubhouse in early 1927. Despite undergoing subsequent additions and renovations, it stands today as a paragon of elegance and sophistication. Renowned for its exquisite cuisine, inviting ambiance, and attentive service, The Country Club of Mobile has earned its place among the nation’s premier establishments, a testament to its enduring legacy of excellence across generations.
